YOUNG ARCHITECTS COMPETITIONS
PROGRAM
With the goal to attract tourists from around the globe, Castle Resort gives designers the opportunity of working with a wide range of project ideas: from the dialogue between nature and architecture to the connection between modern intervention and historic pre-existence. A center where the relaxing atmosphere reaches nearly mystical levels. In the shadows of a castle and plunged into magnificent and charming remains, the center provides an escape from the chaotic life of the metropolis. Ideally, the center will arouse desire and curiosity among the largest possible audience. Thanks to a flourishing and diversified background (made up of woods, cliffs and remains), the facility should suggest solutions in compliance with the needs of both a demanding and exclusive audience.

CONCEPT
The project aim to be a touristic center which is integrates with the environment by architectures that interact with the natural elements and are gently inserted on the territory through a design that promote the protection, preservation, development and fruition of all the area. The Resort provides a calm and inspirational environment for individual, business and social events. It offers different sleeping experiences from relax to camping one, and a variety of possibility to engage with the nature from touristic to sportive, relaxing, cultural and personal care. The touristic structure increase so the value of the territory by synthesize the experience of accommodation, discovery and preservation

PLAN
The plan has been conceive to let the shape of the castle maintains its singularity in following the course of the landscape. The built up area are in facts of made of a rectangular simple shape which varies in scale according to the function. The interaction with the environment occur to a planimetric disposal which follow the level curves and the direction of the terrain offering different point of views of this wide and wild landscape. All the areas are open and access free but through the disposition and orientation each volume has also its privacy and a unique relation with the landscape.

SLEEPING
The architectural elements structure does not dig the soil, but is fixed to it and is therefore easy to remove without leaving any alternation in the landscape.
The cabins are project as modular system that can be easily built-up and built-down. This system offers different possibility of composition to accomodate the different needs of the users. Those integrate when present the natural elements such us trees or rock, and are conceal with the landscape by an outer layout made of wood board, that remember the tree’s trunk, and by a mirroring glass that vanishing the faced and expand the landscape and its view. The camping area is made of platform that offers a basement where customers can put their own tent or it can be open to let out a pop-up tent. Both the structures are designed to be the least impact possible on the territory and its nature.

SERVICES
Services, such as cabins, are not fixed structures on the ground, but they follow the slope; the main services are placed at the entrance of the resort and overlooking the canyon offering a spectacular view of the nature reserve of Callora Torrent. The three blocks that comprise it are dedicated to hospitality, spa with swimming pool and restaurant. The cabins are served by a shuttle bus with electric golf car. The second block, surrounded by pine forest, is thought to meditation through direct contact with nature and the sky. Pine trees in the lower part, entering the frame and support it as if it were a tree house. Those integrate when present the natural elements such us trees or rock, and are conceal with the landscape by an outer layout made of wood board, that remember the tree’s trunk, and by a mirroring glass that vanishing the faced and expand the landscape and its view. Both the structures are designed to be the least impact possible on the territory and its nature. Inside the castle, topped by an art installation made with steel mesh which shows the severed bastions in memory of Count Thomas of Celano is the chill-out area with a rush toward the precipice.
